From a WhatsApp Message to 'GetThis'

Hello, I'm Sawyer.
Today, I want to share a special story with you—the exact moment GetThis was born from a small but frustrating daily occurrence.
One Ordinary Afternoon, a Message from My Wife
It all started on a typical afternoon. I received a WhatsApp message from my wife asking me to pick up some groceries on my way home from work.
"Don't forget the apples, milk, eggs, and snacks for the kids! Pick them up on your way home! ❤️"
It was a common message, but as soon as I arrived at the market, I faced a small but real struggle.
Playing Hide-and-Seek with a Screenshot
In the noise and bustle of the supermarket, checking the list one by one was more tedious than it sounded. To make sure I wouldn't forget anything, I had taken a screenshot of the message.
However, grocery shopping while looking at a screenshot in the photo gallery was a nightmare:
- Did I buy this or not? Every time my memory failed me, I had to open the gallery, find the photo, and zoom in.
- Without the ability to "check off" items, it became increasingly difficult to track what was missing as the list grew.
That's when it hit me, right there in the middle of the aisle while pushing my cart:
"What if I could turn this message screenshot directly into a checklist?"

From "Frustration" to "Idea"
On my way home, that thought wouldn't leave my mind.
"Copying text to a notes app and manually creating checkboxes for each item is too much work. It should just become a checklist automatically when I take a photo or receive a message."
This became the core philosophy of GetThis.
GetThis: Turning Your Messages into Action
Since then, I started building a tool that doesn't just record tasks but understands the user's context and transforms it into an immediately actionable format.
With GetThis:
- Upload a screenshot, and the AI analyzes the items to convert them into a checklist.
- Speak naturally, and your tasks are organized without any complex typing.
What started as a simple request from my wife has now become an journey to make everyone's daily life a little lighter.
What's Your "Frustrating Moment"?
We all experience small inconveniences every day. But within those frustrations, an idea that could change the world might be hiding.
Just as my supermarket struggle became GetThis, I'm sure there's a wonderful starting point in your daily life too.
I hope you have a smarter and more relaxed day with GetThis!
Thank you.
